Kime Buzzelli (pronounced "Kimmy") is a one woman creative tour de force, painter-clothing maker, owner of Show Pony on Echo Park Blvd. and all around good egg. Her art has been published in books such as Fashion Illustration Next by Laird Borrelli- Vintage L.A. due out this spring. and magazines such as Lula (UK), Bust, PAPER, W, Front Desk, Juxtapoz, and BPM. Her clothing has also been featured in Elle, Venus, Jalouse, W, Apparel News, WWD and PAPER among others.
Her work is filtered through an obsession with fashion but that interest quickly dissolves into something too pathological and diverse to be considered fashion illustrations. Rather she reassembles that familiar iconography into a more personal vocabulary to illustrate her interests which she describes as “Female desire. Girls trying to solve the puzzle of love. Floating ghosts in search of happiness. Obsession and disaster, Magic moments fueled by fantasy, stains and the evidence of mischief. I love collecting things that tell a story- objects with evidence of a life well lived.”
Fresh off a recent solo show at New Image art I met her at a party last week where we found out we had much in common when it comes to art.
